Hamilton Trace, a CarDon & Associates senior living community in Fishers, Indiana, is proud to offer residents access to SPEAK OUT!® Therapy, a nationally recognized speech therapy program designed for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease and related neurological disorders.
Developed by the nonprofit Parkinson Voice Project, SPEAK OUT!® Therapy focuses on helping individuals strengthen their voice, improve speech clarity, support swallowing function and communicate with greater confidence in their daily lives.
For many individuals with Parkinson’s disease, changes in speech and swallowing can become challenging over time. Voices may become softer; speech may become less clear and swallowing concerns may affect comfort and quality of life. SPEAK OUT!® Therapy is designed to address these needs through intentional, targeted therapy and ongoing support.
At Hamilton Trace, the program will be led by skilled Speech-Language Pathologists who are dedicated to helping participants build and maintain important communication skills. The program combines education, individual therapy, home practice and continued support, giving participants tools they can use both during therapy sessions and in everyday conversations.
“We are proud to be part of this nationwide program and contribute to Parkinson’s disease care on a local level,” said Director of LifeSpan Therapy Christy Johnson. “CarDon is always looking for new ways to make a positive impact on our communities, and we’re honored by the opportunity to offer SPEAK OUT!® Therapy at Hamilton Trace. Our Speech-Language Pathologists are well equipped for this.”
In addition to individualized therapy, Hamilton Trace plans to provide several layers of support for residents and community members, including an in-service presentation for Assisted Living and Independent Living residents, monthly support group opportunities for individuals who complete the program, refresher sessions every three to six months to assess continued therapy needs and outreach efforts to make this resource available to non-residents throughout Hamilton County.
This program reflects Hamilton Trace’s continued commitment to providing meaningful resources that support residents’ independence, confidence and overall well-being. By offering SPEAK OUT!® Therapy, the community is helping individuals with Parkinson’s disease and related neurological disorders continue to connect with others and participate more fully in the moments that matter most.
