As we continue this fight together against the COVID-19 pandemic, we want to thank everyone who has sent food, cards, notes, decorated our entrance/campus, sewn cloth masks, posted encouraging messages on our Facebook page, or provided us with any other gesture of gratitude. Our dedicated staff literally cannot be told enough how greatly they are appreciated during this time of personal and professional challenge!
Our COVID-19 preparedness and response plans were created under guidance from The Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH). We have followed their infectious disease control protocols, and per ISDH and the strike team guidelines, we are testing residents who show signs or symptoms of COVID-19. This gives us the ability to confirm positive cases and make quick and appropriate decisions regarding isolation and cohort care in order to isolate the virus, minimize the spread and protect our staff and associates.
In addition to the guidelines noted above, as increased testing has become available, we have constantly worked to gain greater access to testing for both asymptomatic residents and associates. This increased testing was a pro-active decision to respond early and attempt to isolate the virus.
Along with our residents, the health and safety of our associates are a top priority, and we screen them daily for fever and any other signs or symptoms of respiratory illness. We have ample personal protective equipment (PPE), and our associates wear N95 masks while working. Families can rest assured that appropriate PPE is always worn whenever we are caring for their loved ones. We have also given our associates masks to wear when they are away from work. Any associate who tests positive for COVID-19 must follow ISDH guidelines for returning to work.
We have been regularly and transparently sharing information regarding cases with ISDH and with our residents, their loved ones and our caregivers. Earlier this month, we notified you when the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in our community. Below is a chart sharing current numbers of residents and associates who have tested positive or are presumed positive for COVID-19. We will update this information weekly. As always, if there is a change in your loved one’s condition, you will be notified.
You may continue to reach out to us at 812-961-2326 or email at COVIDfirstname.lastname@example.org. These lines of communication will remain open as we work through this difficult time together.
These are challenging times, and our entire team remains committed to the health and safety of our residents, their families and our associates.
