Komal Heer’s First Year of Unique Life Stories

Carmel Health & Living Community Admissions Coordinator Komal Heer

Komal Heer has always looked up to her elders. When her father worked as the Activities Director of an assisted living community, she served the senior residents as a volunteer and found her true calling.

“I loved my time caring for the seniors and listening to their wisdom and stories,” Komal said. “The connections I formed with the seniors and their families were incredibly fulfilling. My experience there reinforced my excitement to continue working for and helping the elder population. I can say today that this was the perfect decision I made for myself.”

Komal is now one year into her position as Admissions Coordinator for CarDon’s Carmel Health & Living Community. She’s following in her father’s footsteps and surely making him proud through her committed, compassionate care for seniors and their loved ones.

“I love my role as Admissions Coordinator because providing clarity and support in the transition to senior living is such an impactful part of the process,” she said. “I love being the first point of contact for families during what can often be an emotional and challenging time. There is immense satisfaction in seeing residents settle in, make friends and thrive in their new home.”

Residents also keep Komal on her toes with their unique life stories. She recalls one “sweet, soft-spoken lady” whose professional background left her “absolutely awestruck.”

“She told me she worked for the FBI and showed me all these pictures, each of which had its own fascinating story,” she said. “She shared how her husband had to go through this full-scale investigation when she decided to get married while working with the FBI. We had a wonderful time chatting, and I left that room with a heart full of love and respect for these amazing people we welcome into our community every day.”
