Construction of Cumberland Trace, New Senior Living Community in Plainfield, to Begin this Summer

Official groundbreaking event — Thursday, June 19, 3:00 to 4:00

PLAINFIELD: The first phase of Cumberland Trace, the newest senior living community from Bloomington-based CarDon & Associates, is slated to get underway in mid-June. WS Property Group, also based in Bloomington, will partner with CarDon & Associates to build the community, which will offer Plainfield and surrounding areas comfortable, inviting accommodations and state-of-the-art services for assisted living, long-term care, memory care and rehabilitation.

The 17th senior living community from CarDon & Associates in south-central Indiana, Cumberland Trace will be situated on approximately 38 acres at the southwest corner of SR 267 and Reeves Road. Phase I will include 36 one and two-bedroom assisted living apartment homes and skilled nursing accommodations for more than 100 individuals. As planned, future phases will include apartment homes and cottages for independent living with comprehensive amenities and conveniences.

CarDon’s family-first approach to senior living and health care is evident in the design of Cumberland Trace. To encourage greater family interaction, the community is designed to include five distinct, intimate neighborhoods, each with its own restaurant-style dining room, lounge, activity center and courtyard, with Wi-Fi throughout the community. There will also be easy access from each neighborhood to amenities including a community center, theater, library, beauty salon and barbershop, along with a fully equipped therapy gym and home transition center to help those who are receiving rehabilitation services prepare for a safe, successful return to the home environment.

“Our goal in designing Cumberland Trace is to create a residential neighborhood appeal so that residents feel comfortably at home. We want them to look forward to having their family and friends visit them, and we want their guests to fully enjoy the time they spend here,” said Dr. Stephen Moore, president and chief executive officer of CarDon & Associates.“Having family and friends around makes all the difference in resident quality of life. We want to do all we can to support their physical, spiritual and emotional well-being.”

Carroll and Donna Moore opened the first CarDon community in 1977. In the early 2000s, Dr. Stephen Moore and his three siblings assumed the organization’s operations from their parents. Kathy Headley serves as board chair of CarDon & Associates, Daniel W. Moore is vice president, and David C. Moore is secretary. Today, CarDon employs nearly 2,300 people at its 17 locations, and plans to continue growing in Indiana at a moderate pace which will allow the organization to maintain its exceptional quality of care and its family-first philosophy.

“Plainfield and the surrounding areas are underserved in terms of residential options for seniors and quality health care services. We’re very enthused about bringing Cumberland Trace and our family-centric approach to the area,” said Dr. Moore. “Plainfield is based on the kind of family values that reflect our own priorities here at CarDon & Associates.”

At full occupancy, the first phase of Cumberland Trace will create approximately 125 employment opportunities. CarDon anticipates that the community will open in May 2015.

An onsite information center at Cumberland Trace will open this fall, where visitors will be able to preview plans for the community, including floor plans of the assisted living apartment homes. Reservations will be accepted at that time. In the meantime, additional information is available at www.cumberlandtrace.us or by calling 812-332-2265.
