CarDon Offers New Memory Support Suites at Carmel Health & Living Community

CarDon & Associates, Inc., announces the opening of new memory support suites at Carmel Health & Living Community, located at 118 Medical Drive in Carmel.

Now open and accepting reservations, the 27-bed memory support unit consists of 23 private suites and two companion suites. All beds are Medicare and Medicaid certified as well as accepting insurance and private pay.

“We saw a greater need for memory support in Hamilton County,” said Jeannie Keenan, RN, CarDon director of clinical coordination. “Being centrally-located within the county, Carmel Health & Living was the perfect community in which to expand and enhance our memory support services.”

Angie Baker, memory care director, is certified through the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. In addition, all associates receive specialized dementia training focused on unique approaches and strategies for each stage of the dementia journey in order to promote quality of life and engagement in the environment.

The memory support program enables residents to safely make their own choices through structured daily routines and offers a sensory area allowing residents to participate in various customized activities and favorite leisure tasks.

“CarDon understands that a comfortable, home-like environment, specialized staff training and meaningful activities for residents are all key to promoting a high quality of life in the community,” Baker said.

“We know caring for a loved one with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia can be challenging, and we want to help,” Keenan said. “CarDon’s goal is to support our residents through each stage of the dementia process and make them feel comfortable, secure and happy in our community.”
